Educators agree that children need to be in supportive, friendly environments. But recent research indicates that some teacher attempts to create such environments by using praise may actually be counter productive. Encouragement is a specific tool to replace praise that is more effective and consistent with the goals that most early childhood educators have for children. Children thrive in encouraging environments where they receive specific feedback. Encouragement fosters autonomy, positive self esteem, a willingness to explore, and acceptance of self and others. This workshop will focus on using encouragement to successfully motivate children in learning and in behavior. It is a component that is essential to master positive discipline within a classroom. Note: Please call to register.
